Project Overview:
Ember & Harmony is a Michelin Star restaurant concept where light becomes the primary design language. The project merges modern spatial design with Chinese cultural symbolism, transforming illumination into both ambiance and narrative. The result is an immersive dining experience that evolves throughout the day, creating emotional rhythm through controlled lighting transitions, reflections, and warmth. Every design decision — from materiality to luminaire placement — contributes to a cohesive sensory journey that redefines how guests perceive space, flavor, and time.
Objectives:
- Design a lighting-driven spatial concept that enhances both aesthetic and emotional experience.
- Integrate cultural symbolism through light, color, and form to connect guests to the narrative.
- Develop a dynamic atmosphere that evolves seamlessly from day to night.
- Balance visual comfort, functionality, and artistic expression through layered lighting.
- Elevate dining into a multi-sensory event where illumination shapes memory and emotion.
Scope of Work:
Our software solutions encompass a comprehensive development process:
- Lighting Concept Development: Researched and conceptualized a system inspired by Olafur Eliasson’s The Weather Project and the “Blazing Night” Café in China.
- Spatial Design: Integrated architectural lighting with material choices to create depth, contrast, and warmth.
- Simulation and Visualization: Developed realistic lighting studies and renders to define tone, intensity, and behavior.
- Technical Coordination: Collaborated with engineers to ensure lighting performance, sustainability, and control accuracy.
- Atmospheric Programming: Designed transitions that reflect time, mood, and culinary progression throughout the service.
- Presentation and Documentation: Produced detailed lighting layouts and visual storytelling materials to communicate the design intent clearly.
